Planning and Zoning

The objective of planning & zoning laws and regulations is to provide a common scheme of development of real property for towns and municipalities. A thorough knowledge of administrative law and procedure is required by effective counsel, along with a solid knowledge of real estate law, surveying issues, wetland matters, easements and various other practice areas.

Knowing all the prerequisites, laws and obstacles as to any proposed development, and one’s ability to work with municipal officials, civil engineers and surveyors, is required. Planning and zoning work may involve matters such as obtaining approvals for the development of a large residential subdivision or a commercial plaza, and the obtainment of a variance for the common homeowner.
